Amigo Dog Wheelchair

Nir Shalom, an Israeli industrial designer, created this dog wheelchair that allows the dog more mobility. Presented this past month in Milan, the device attaches to the hips and allows dogs to lay down, sit, and run around. Watch the video below!

Thats really cool. I have a question, but please don’t tell me the answer. How does the dog go to the bathroom.
I have got the same question…
–Bless any dog that has to have a doggie wheelchair
when is this going to be available in the US? I know a lot of dachshunds who could benefit from a chair like this!
I don’t know, but it would be great if it went into production. I think it may still be a concept piece.
Hi,
I wonder if you have any plans to develop one for cats.
My little Lucky, one year old now, was found bleeding
and without any backpaws. She can walk but she can’t
do it properly.
A-MAZ-ING! It brought a tear to my eye at the wonderful opportunities this little contraption will bring many doggies. Lovely.
Jamie!! What a great post!!!
It’s an AMAZING design! So smart! I hope this goes into full production and is available everywhere!
My dog was in a wheelchair for the last 6 months of his life (he passed away in March). It made those 6 months such an incredible experience for our whole family. We knew he was dying, but the chair allowed us to take him to the dog park each day where he socialized and played with the other dogs. I designed his chair and he took to it immediately, actually running down the street as soon as I attached it to his body. I think it might have been the proudest moment of my life to give him his legs back, even for a little while.
The the people who asked about how they go to the bathroom: It’s actually much easier for the dog to go in the cart! The chairs are open in all the important areas, so the cart stays clean and the dog retains his dignity by being able to go on his own!
Hi Jen,
Sorry to hear about your buddy, but it’s true that a well-designed chair can really make a huge difference in quality of life for a disabled or injured pet. Thanks for sharing your experience. -J
Thanks so much Jaime.. both for the nice comment and for sharing such great stuff : )
How do you order one of these and will it be produced soon?
It would be great to have this for Stella. She was injured two nights ago and will be coming home from the hospital on Monday. I like that this cart would allow her to lay down if she wanted to. I wish it was available. If it ever is, I hope you let me know! I listed my website. Thanks!
Will do! Sorry to hear about your Stella.
My dog Joey has been slowly losing mobility in his back legs since spring of 2010. I am currently looking for a wheelchair to make it easier for him to enjoy his walks. I am not satisfied with any of the wheelchair options I have seen on the internet. I love the concept of this wheelchair!
If the designer is interested in selling in the USA, let me know.
When will the Amigo be available for purchase? Any ideas on what pricing will look like?
I have a Frenchie who just had surgery for a ruptured disk and lost use of his back half. This is by far the best wheelchair I have seen and I would love to get more info on it.
Thanks,
We have two Frenchies that both suffered from ruptured discs…one had successful surgery and the other is in a wheelchair. We must have this wheelie! When is it coming???!!! So sweet!
Shalom my friend, I have a little dachshund named Emmy, as in the video she has no use of her back legs. Spinal surgery just didn’t work. She just turned 5 and she is the most amazing creature who is so adored (and funny as well she always makes me laugh). I have been so sad for her not being able to run and play, I would love to give her her spunk back.
All of G-d\s creatures deserve a good life. Please keep me informed as to the availability of your amazing invention. Thanks for your time to give back to our beloved friends.

The dog wheelchair is awesome! Congratulation!
i know that people already wrote it, but this wheelchair is one of the best and really amazing…my dog diego is in the hospital for more than 12 days now, today they told us that there is no more hope that he can walk…he still can not controll his bladder and his bowel ;( but this wheelchair would really help alot and make his life easier…i hope someone will produce it soon!
The design is incredible, it looks so hitech and futuristic. We had a cat recently pass that had hip problems. I wish i knew about this.
where could you perchase this prouduct.?
OMG i SOOO need one for my Dog Please spreed the word HOW CAN WE PURCHASE ONE
This is awesome, totally made my day to see this. Huge advancement for disabled dogs. We love your site!
My dog injuried his back when he was 1 1/2 yrs old. Every year he loses all control of his back legs. We put him on complete bed rest and he’s sedated and given steroids. After a week he’s back to normal. He back in the hosital again. I know one day his luck is going to run out. This device would be great when the time comes. Please let me know when it’s availble for purchase.
I also have a disabled dog, who I adopted after she was hit by a car and abandoned. she has a wonderful wheelchair (from walkinwheels.com)right now but this one seems amazing. Please let me know when this is available for purchase as well.
Wow ! this really made my day! Just brought my little one home and I am confused I dont know what to do. Dr’s really didnt give me any instructions but seeing this video and this awesome device gives me a little hope that anything is possible. If this ever comes in the market PLEASE let me know!
I would also like to know when this comes on the market. I have a one year old puppy who has never had the use of his back legs.. No wheelchair I have seen has been able to do what this one does, and I know it would make his quality of life so much better.. Plus he would be able to play with the other three dogs I have…
Hi! I have a rottie, 8 yrs old who has hip dysplasia and is unable to move anywhere without support. She used to be a very lively girl & it pains us to see her wanting to go about but unable. She has stopped eating so that she doesn’t have to go to the toilet. Please let me know where I can get this. I am in India.
Thank you
Hi , i have been crying all day , as today my vet gave the worst news that my little toy poodle would not be able to walk again due to spinal cord injury , i spend 2 hrs on the net searching for a dog cart that would bring happy days again to my girl ,, I love your product , Please , please , let me know where i can get it from ? Can that chair be made to order now ?
Do you need any help to be able to put it into production?
You clearly have a so called market, lots of people who care for their animals that want to buy it. If you want I can ask a swedish friend that is industrial design about how to put into production and help you set up an e-commerce so that you can sell them online for 5dollars for every successfully delivered chair the first year. And of course, I would be grateful it you could develop one for cats to.
Think about it.
Best regards.

Where can I buy one of these? My very active Dachshund, who is a Rally and Obedience Champion needs one of these. In this amazing design she could return back to her Rally and Obedience competitions! This would be absolutely AMAZING for her, and I can’t even imagine the stir she would cause in any show ring being a disabled pet! Just thinking about it makes me cry.
There is nothing like this out there. I’ve never seen a dog wheelchair that allows dogs to sit and lay down. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING,
Please, site moderator. Many of us got here because one way of another we have a pet in need of this product. Can you please answer us when can we get The Amigo. Thanks.
To all that have asked: We have no information on whether or not this is in production yet. Your best bet is to contact the designer, Nir Shalom, directly: nir0201@gmail.com.
