We’re longtime fans of 26 Bars & a Band’s Avant Garde leash collection. The fun patterns and designs are a great way to show off your style while taking ol’ Fido for a walk. The only problem has been deciding on which design to choose — until now! 26 Bars & a Band has a brand new series of interchangeable covers designed specifically for their Avant Garde leashes: the Snap Case collection!
Our Avant Garde leash arrived with the Sherlock case already in place but, of course, I wanted to try out the Metro design. After spending a few minutes trying to pry it open with my weak blogger fingers, I finally grabbed the closest thin (yet sturdy!) object I could find, which worked like a charm. The instructions included with the case say to “create a gap by pulling the case apart and inserting a thumbnail, nail file, guitar pick, or similar”. In my case, a random “reward card” that had been lying around for a few months did the trick. I should note that creating that initial gap was a little tricky, a good thing in my opinion: once a case is snapped on, it’s snapped on really well!
Here’s what a naked Avant Garde leash looks like, in case you were wondering.
Oh, and here’s the Metro design waiting for its chance to shine — or not shine, technically. (The Metro case exterior is smooth, silky, and matte! No shine here, folks.)
Attaching the new case was a breeze! Three quick snaps and it’s in place, ready to rock and roll:
After I snapped the new case on, Smash and I took it for a little test drive. The Avant Garde leash has a nice ergonomic handle that features a rather comfy rubber grip and a simple, one-button release. The leash material itself is made of super durable belt nylon and is as smooth as butter to extend or retract. Each Avant Garde leash is available in two sizes: small (9 feet) or medium (15 feet). We opted for the small, which holds up to 28 pounds. All in all, the Avant Garde leash is a very high quality retractable leash (one that comes with a 36-month warranty, P.S.).
