Spotwag solves just about every source of stress I’ve ever experienced with pet sitting or boarding. Built on the idea of trust and established relationships, Spotwag uses Facebook to help you find the perfect pet sitter — using friends and connections you already have. Brilliant, right?

Once you create a profile on Spotwag (for you or your pet), you can quickly and easily put the call for help out. Trusted friends (most likely people who are already “liking” all those photos of your dog and would love to snuggle with them) can sign up to help out. Who you choose and how you thank them is up to you! (There is no built-in compensation system. Spotwag is based on the idea of karma–so whether you say “thanks” with a bottle of wine, lots of hugs, or cold hard cash is your choice.)

Don’t have a pet? You can still sign-up as a sitter! Consider it a Rent-a-Pet situation for those unsure about committing to one of their own.

It’s still wet and drizzly these days, so while I sit back and wait for May to bring flowers, I may as well protect myself from the elements with one of these snazzy dog umbrellas! Right? I mean, it just seems like the proper thing to do. And with over ten breeds, there’s bound to be one for every dog lover! (I’ve got my eye on the Schnauzer one, of course. Or maybe the Boxer… or the Chihuahua version. Okay, I kinda want them all.)

We’re big, big fans of Jo Chambers aka Studio Legohead here at Dog Milk (have you seen the portrait she did of Miles??), so when Jo reached out with her newest series, I jumped at the chance to share it! In honor of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and all that is royal and jewel-encrusted, Studio Legohead is offering your pups the same regal treatment: custom portraits in the Jubilee style, complete with actual gold and silver foil crowns. Blingin’!

She is, of course, still offering regular custom pet portraits as well as prints of her delightful canine illustrations in her Etsy shop, so there’s something for every dog lover!

I got a kick out of this list of graphic design-y dog names from CMYBacon (an awesome blog, P.S.)! “WYSIWYG” might be my favorite, mostly because it would amuse me to no end watching people try to pronounce it. Can you think of any other design-oriented dog names that should be included?

What is it about wiener dogs (and everything wiener dog-related) that is so darn irresistible? It’s like how I can’t give up vanilla shakes from McDonald’s even though dog knows what’s actually in them (don’t tell me). West Elm has tapped into the lovable and forever endearing nature of the dachshund with a series of playful summertime plates featuring designs by Brooklyn artist Claudia Pearson. Outfitted in shades and retro beach gear, Pearson’s doxie is sure to put you in the summer spirit. A long dog on a longboard? What’s better that that? Not even a vanilla milkshake.

I discovered NYC-based artist Melinda Buie’s work through my friend Amy’s blog last week and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since! I was so blown away by her pet portraits, in fact, that my new life goal is to commission one of Wrigley. Until then, I’ll just admire all the pups already lucky enough to be in her portfolio — and dream of the perfect spot to hang Wrigley’s imaginary/future/totally-getting-one-one-day painting.
