You might already be familiar with Nice Mice for You if you remember their calendar we featured back at the end of last year or if you’re a fan of French bulldogs, Corgis, or cute things in general, like illustrations of dogs brushing their teeth. Last week, our friends to the north (that’s Canada, for those of you not in the U.S., or if you’re an American who’s bad at geography) released a new postage stamp to call public attention to the massive number of homeless pets in the country and promote saving lives through pet adoption. The stamps in the Adopt a Pet collection from Canada Post feature photographs of former shelter animals (including two adorable pups) and a doodle of each pet’s imagined “dream home.”

The stamp set comes in a collector’s booklet that relates the individual stories of each of the featured pets. While the animals are caged as pictured on the stamp sheet, pulling off a stamp to affix to an envelope releases the pet from the cage — a clever and heartwarming metaphor for what we do through animal adoption. It makes me want to go to Canada and mail a lot of letters.
