Minor League Baseball Dog Logos

I drafted my Fantasy Football team this week, and while I’m stoked about cooler temperatures and the return of football season, I’m a little sad that baseball’s almost over for the year. I’m a big minor league baseball fan, and I really love the unique and often-a-little-goofy mascots and logos of minor league teams — especially those that are dog-themed, of course. Do you recognize any of the teams above? Check ‘em out after the jump!

1/ Loudoun Hounds, Dulles, VA

2/ New Jersey Jackals, Little Falls, NJ

3/ Erie SeaWolves, Erie, PA

4/ Lincoln Saltdogs, Lincoln, NE

5/ Midland RockHounds, Midland, TX

6/ Charleston RiverDogs, Charleston, SC

7/ San Diego Surf Dawgs, San Diego, CA

8/ Phoenix Desert Dogs, Phoenix, AZ

9/ River City Rascals, O’Fallon, MO

Some teams have chosen to go with a slightly more ferocious image, like the Mahoning Valley (OH) Scrappers and the Batavia (NY) Muckdogs. I’m not sure how I feel about the Scrappers’ bulldog being on a chain (a logo revision that took place a couple of years ago), but at least it looks like he’s busted loose.

My dogs’ favorite team? Our local Asheville Tourists, of course, as twice per season they host Doggies at the Diamond, when pups can come to the ballpark and enjoy a game (and maybe a hotdog) with their humans. Second favorite? Maybe the Visalia Rawhide, if only for the name.

One that is a stretch of a pun.

The Boston Red Sox minor league team are the Pawtucket Red Sox better know as the PawSox.
    (bah-dump-dump…)

@Jon – Hahahahaaa. Nice one. The PawSox should totally make their mascot a dog instead of the (polar?) bear.
