Marci Forbes is the artist behind PapierDog. She uses old household discards such as old cardboard tubes, newspapers, milk containers, and other paper products to create her colorful paper-mache dogs.

Although these are a bit on the crafty side for my taste, I like that Marci reuses what would’ve been trash to create them. She also does an excellent job capturing the unique personality in each dog she creates.

I asked her why she chose dogs. She explained, “I started in 2005 after looking for a dog mannequin and being unable to find one. I had also recently moved so the local newspaper’s welcome-to-your-new-home free subscription was stacking up unread. A large supply of free material and being unable to find what I needed led me to make them myself. They got as much interest as the vest they were created to model. That’s how it started.”
