Pet Portraits by Melinda Buie

I discovered NYC-based artist Melinda Buie’s work through my friend Amy’s blog last week and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since! I was so blown away by her pet portraits, in fact, that my new life goal is to commission one of Wrigley. Until then, I’ll just admire all the pups already lucky enough to be in her portfolio — and dream of the perfect spot to hang Wrigley’s imaginary/future/totally-getting-one-one-day painting.

Speaking of pet portraits, have you or would you commission a portrait of your favorite furry friend?
P.S. Be sure to check out her cow paintings, too! They are incredible!

I just commissioned a painting of my dachshund from Yellow Brick Home. One of my favorite pieces in the whole house! http://www.ammothedachshund.com/2012/04/12/little-super-hero-on-the-wall/
SO cute, Kyley! I love his cape.
After a fantastic photographer took a lovely black-and-white portrait of Dottie for my husband’s old work website (long story…), we liked it so much we took Mingus to her studio to get a matching one done of him. They hang side by side in my office, and I love them. Even though we snap photos of the pups all. the. time., I’m so grateful to have such a beautiful matching set done by a professional. (They kind of look like the sort of headshots that actors take to auditions, too, which makes me laugh.)
I can totally get behind matching “headshots”! Every dog deserves to look fabulous for a day.
I want to see these portraits! Share, share!
Me too, me too!
