I’m a big fan of raised feeders because they’re ergonomically better for your dog – especially if you’ve got a large breed. Researchers can’t seem to decide if raised feeders increase or decrease risk of bloat, as an owner of a deep chested large dog that worries me. For now he eats at floor level, but I have been considering raising it a bit because I think it would be more comfortable for him, but only a few inches, I have heard of some people raising their dog’s food to their shoulder height which just sounds unnatural and uncomfortable! My other, smaller dog takes food out of his bowl to eat it directly off the floor so I would never bother raising his bowl.
Lulu is 75 pounds and her bowl is only slightly raised, which seems to be OK for her.
Raised feeders are much easier on dogs necks and legs.
