Planet Dog Orbee-Tuff

Planet Dog Orbee Tuff in toys

Remember I told you that I went to that Boston Meetup? Well, when I was there someone had recommended Orbee-Tuff®Planet Dog Orbee Tuff in toys toys by Planet Dog to me when I explained that my dogs pretty much eat their toys like treats rather than play with them. I talked about the eco-friendly bone a few weeks back, and wondered whether my dogs would be able to destroy it. Many of the toys are over $10, so before I splurge can anyone weigh in as to whether these toys live up to the rumors? The Amazon reviews are not very informative.

  1. Mingus and Dottie got a couple of these for Christmas. I had always thought these toys were so cute (esp. the fruits and vegetables), but M+D destroy toys on the DAILY, so I was NOT going to pay $10-$15 for something that looked highly chewable. But these toys really ARE strong. They’ve been gnawed on since December and hardly show signs of wear. We’ve got the strawberry and one of the balls. They even have a minty smell, which is kind of cool.

  2. These toys are great! Just like you said, my boston practically eats his toys too. I was hesitant to spend $10 on a ball too, but I picked up one of these, the green one that says fetch on it, at a random dog toy store in the Orlando airport about 6 months ago. It’s still holding up strong! He managed to chew off the blue letters, but other than that, no damage whatsoever, and its one of his favorite toys too! I will probably purchase more of their toys in the future. Highly recommended.

    • That was one thing I was worried about ? the letters or the little nubs. They tend to chew off the little pieces that they can. I guess is isn?t so bad, though if they can?t eat the whole thing!

  3. My Border Terriers are also destroyers of toys, but the Planet Dog/Orbee items have been good. Still, I try to get ones that have no bits that “jut out” that they can really naw on for long periods of time. Balls are always the best!

  4. Wow thanks for all the comments! This is great. It’s nice to get more personal reviews about these products. Beans and Lulu don’t chew the balls that we have, only the other toys — the ones that are shaped like bones specifically made for chewing.

  5. Darwin (our great dane) doesn’t destroy toys as much as stuffies, but the fetch ball she’s had for a few months now and its still holding up.

  6. Fitz and Finn, shephard mixes, destroy all of their toys. I got the bone shaped toys from planet dog and they didn’t really seem that interseted in them. I think they don’t really like the mint flavor. A different bone they really like is the Busy Buddy bouncy bones with the gnawhide rings. The refill rings are kind of expensive, but the bone has held up for over a year.

  7. I love how they smell minty! Most of them also have a spot for a treat or peanut butter. The recycled ones are great too.

  8. I work at a dog store and we sell these. They are great for most people. I would recommend the diamond plate ball. It’s by far the toughest out of the line. Also, if your boston likes the Orbees the west paw toys would probably fair well too!

These Planet Dog toys are the best. Very durable and my border collie loves them.

  10. Other than the kong heavy duty toys, Orbee Tuff are the only toys my bulldog does not destroy. We’ve had a football and artichoke for over a year and they are still in decent shape. Beware though that the extra pieces will come off with heavy chewers.

  11. My dog used to destroy everything in sight. He ripped out our whole irrigation system, chewed and bent the metal pieces, chews and breaks rocks with his jaws, and even destroyed the black Kong toys for extreme chewers. I bought Planet Dog toys because multiple dog experts people swore by them. My dog is absolutely obsessed with his Planet Dog Orbee ball. He loves the natural mint smell, it glows in the dark so we can play at night, it bounces in crazy ways, it looks brand new after 2 years and still smells like mint, AND best of all, it’s so soft and elastic that he chews and pops it in his mouth for hours….never ending bubble gum for dogs!!! Plus the company is the most Eco-friendly in the industry, has it’s own charity that all purchases support (search Planet Dog Foundation), and makes all products in the USA. I couldn’t be happier…these guys are forward thinking, socially responsible innovators in the dog industry.
