Here at Dog Milk, we are always on the lookout for modern dog products that are as big on durability and quality as they are on style — and all the better if they’re made by small businesses or independent craftspeople! So, when Juka Araikawa, the founder and designer behind BLINK, a Los Angeles-based pet accessories company, contacted us about test-driving some products, we were pretty excited! Check out our review of these handmade rope collars and leashes below — and be sure to snag the special discount code at the end!
[Disclosure: We were sent a collar and leash from BLINK for review. All view and opinions are our own.]
Like I mentioned above, all of BLINK’s pet accessories are handmade by Juka in her small Los Angeles studio. I’ve seen a few different rope leash and collar styles (and even tried my hand at a DIY version last year), enough to spot the difference between low or high quality rope, leather, and other details. BLINK definitely does not skimp in the materials department. With solid brass hardware, sturdy 100% cotton rope, and premium leather, these pieces get high marks in durability.
Also? Just look how gorgeous it is! BLINK collars and leashes are all hand-dyed and come in a wide variety of absolutely beautiful, modern colors. Check out their shop to see all the color combos and options for yourself — it’s impossible to just choose one! (FYI: you can even buy pre-dyed rope from BLINK for whatever crafty, rope-y projects you may have up your sleeve.)
In addition to collars and leashes, BLINK also has a line of abstract and organically-shaped brass tags that are a fun diversion from your standard tag shape (circles are so boring!). We tried out the “Good Dog” tag, but you can also order engraved ID tags with all of your dog’s important info.
Honestly, these collars and leashes have some of the best craftsmanship I’ve seen in the rope style — I have no doubt that Wrigley will be rocking his for a long time to come.
