If you’re as obsessed with Scandinavian-inspired decor as I am, or just want to pamper your dog with a seriously cozy bed, then you’ll definitely love this (faux) sheepskin and memory foam bed from Skookum Dog! Resident product testers Wrigley and Smash recently got to try one out (if you follow Dog Milk on Instagram, you already saw a sneak peak). Check out our review below!

[Disclosure: Skookum Dog sent me a Sheepskin Bed for review. All views and opinions are my own.]

First things first, the Sheepskin Bed from Skookum Dog is massive (at least to someone who is used to small-dog sized things): it weighs almost 10 pounds, due to the memory foam interior, and can fit dogs upwards of 90 pounds… which, if you’re doing the math, is five Wrigleys. Of course, that’s not a negative! Wrigley and Smash were able to use this bed at the same time and, when taking solo turns, were able to completely stretch out frog-style (which is a major plus in Wrigley’s book). If you have medium to large-sized dogs, this bed would be a perfect size!

As for materials and construction, this bed is top notch. The base is made from 1050d HT U.S. ballistic nylon which, fun fact, is the strongest and most durable fabric at this weight level. The interior is 1 1/2″ thick memory foam and the bed top is synthetic sheepskin/sherpa fleece. All parts and materials are made in the U.S.A. Oh, and all the seams are completely finished so you don’t have to worry about this thing, well, coming apart at the seams!

The only real negative I can note is that clumps of fleece come off periodically when Wrigley or Smash play the “I’m going to scratch this spot until I achieve maximum bed fluffiness” game. So, if your dog is one that likes to dig/scratch their beds a million times before plopping down, that’s definitely something to consider. So far, it doesn’t appear to be damaging the fleece so much as roughing it up (see image below), but I will be keeping an eye on it. (In the event that part of the Sheepskin Bed does get destroyed, you can order a replacement cover or memory foam insert, FYI.)

When I first set this bed out, Wrigley and Smash kind of went nuts for it, spending the whole rest of that afternoon snoozing on it even though they had access to: 2 squishy sofas, our blanket-strewn bed, 4 other dog beds, a lounge chair, and a pile of dirty clothes (Smash’s fave). And now, three weeks later, they’re still obsessed with it. So, as far as Wrigley and Smash are concerned the Sheepskin Bed from Skookum definitely gets four paws up!
