Well, February is upon us, which means we’re being assaulted with hearts and Cupids and “every kiss begins with Kaayyyyyy” at every turn. Even though I’m married and in love and all that jazz, Valentine’s Day usually makes me want to kick things. When you think about it, though, we all have the best Valentines around — our pups! I mean, they actually show us what love is all about, and they don’t care a thing about cards and roses and diamonds. We’ve rounded up some great Valentine’s Day items for you and your pup.

What I love most is that all of their pieces are customizable to meet the needs of all dogs. Too often, big dogs don’t get to enjoy these types of high design furniture pieces. I just realized that I’ve never featured Vurv‘s Dog Pod before, but it’s the epitome of modern dog design. In fact, it was part of the inspiration behind launching Dog Milk. I just have to share. It’s so sleek and stylish that if it came in human-sized I’d want to take a snooze in one.

Pet Ball is a new design from Korea that can also be used as a table. Perfect for small spaces, the Pet Ball is shaped like an enclosed den to make your pet feel secure.

Not only is this one fancy pet bed, but it also has an LED-lighted top covered in your choice of blue, pink, orange or green acrylic. Made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with an acrylic cushion that stays in place with Velcro.

As you can see, stuffed dogs seem to really enjoy it!

Raised on legs, it also protects against dirt and insects. Pet Ball comes in pink or white with pointy or flat aluminum legs.

From the Bauhaus to the Beamer, I’m a huge fan of German design. The folks over at German company Cloud7 have put their collective finger on what so many designers from their country have espoused: the importance of eye-catching, clean, functional design. Cloud7′s line of doggie wares (featuring bowls, beds, toys, and pillows) is the newest entry on my list of Favorite German Things (right up there with their chocolate cake).

I’m especially verrückt for Cloud7′s ceramic bowls and travel beds.

Jamboree is a concept dog hammock by designer Ilya Fridman that aims to help the environment and keep your home clean at the same time.

Made of old rubber flip flops connected using old clothesline, the bed is bouncy and comfortable – and keeps those old summer shoes from ending up in the landfill. Not only that, but the bed itself subtly collects stray or loose dog hairs using static electricity. That way, the dog sheds on the bed instead of on your rug, furniture, floors, and clothing. The bed can easily be disassembled and cleaned. Definitely an interesting concept – I’d like to see this in action!

Just when you thought dog furniture couldn’t get fancier or more contemporary, I stumbled on Argentinian company Cedel Pets & Style over on Moderncat. Their pet beds are no joke – they even include functional night stands! Their website is a bit dated, but you can see tons of pics on their Facebook page.
