The Modern Canine

My ears perk up like Beans’ (^-^) when I hear a company name with the word “modern” in it. The Modern Canine does not disappoint.

An eco-friendly company, The Modern Canine recycles luxury fabrics from fashion and interior designers, and all pieces are cut individually to minimize waste. Each coat and sweater is uniquely crafted locally in the Bay Area with high-quality materials, such as wool, cashmere, organic cotton, and recycled Polartec fleece. New fabrics and colors are added to the line frequently.

My favorite is the Signature Coat — the coat that started The Modern Canine. It’s a wool coat is made of European wool (yellow, orange and green) with a printed cotton jersey lining. I’m really digging the green, which is strange because I’m not normally a green person…I wonder if Beans likes green? He probably does, but he’s not a big fan of bows.

Beans’ Fall Fashion Forecast

Remember when you got that big, fat September issue of your favorite magazine in the mail? The Fall fashion one? I do. I would spend hours pouring over it, flipping through it’s glossy pages of deliciously expensive clothing, happy over-18 models posing as schoolgirls, wishing I could look like that when going back to school. Those days might be over for me, but that feeling I get each August when I begin to think about the Fall has never gone away. It’s almost a feeling of rebirth and excitement. But, I digress…really what I want to talk about here is Fall fashion — for dogs.

Now, I’m not one to dress up my dog in Juicy Couture and Ed Hardy, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t fashion trends to take note of — especially for the modern pup. Beans and I got together to peruse the Interwebs and find some of the best Fall trends for the modern dog this year. Think of this as your Fall fashion issue of doggie Vogue.

Doesn’t he look excited? It might be because I said “Fall Fashion” or maybe it’s because I’m holding his favorite ball…

Covet Coat

Covet Coat in green clothing

After this weekend of about 2 feet of snow, I started thinking that maybe Beans needs a winter coat. The poor boy was shivering outside. He really hates the cold having grown up in San Diego, but I think a nice coat would help him adjust a little better to the changing seasons here in NJ. I love this recycled Eco-Pup Covet coat — it’s pretty gender neutral and made from all reclaimed materials.
