Well, February is upon us, which means we’re being assaulted with hearts and Cupids and “every kiss begins with Kaayyyyyy” at every turn. Even though I’m married and in love and all that jazz, Valentine’s Day usually makes me want to kick things. When you think about it, though, we all have the best Valentines around — our pups! I mean, they actually show us what love is all about, and they don’t care a thing about cards and roses and diamonds. We’ve rounded up some great Valentine’s Day items for you and your pup.

Best In Park likes to consider themselves, “a little old school,” meaning they love “handsome gentleman’s checks, classic styling, and are partial to a bow-tie when the occasion arises.” But above everything, they are “old school” about the quality of their craftsmanship and the superior materials they work with.

Bella Bean‘s simple yet stunning Rescue Me collars and leads take their inspiration from Swiss Army’s cross and classic red color. A true testament to Bella Bean’s superb quality, they’re waterproof and complete with brass fittings to stand the test of time. And the best part is, a percentage of the sale from this collection is donated to local dog rescue groups. I love great design with a purpose!

Hamish McBeth designs and manufacturers a stunning line of drool-worthy leather dog collars. Their luxury collars and handcrafted leashes are designed to be elegant and timeless because Hamish McBeth believes that canine fashion comes and goes, but style lasts forever. I happen to agree. My top pick would have to be this Savile Row leather collar that’s designed to reflect the skills of a great tailor. I can already picture how smart my dog would look in this!

Brooklyn’s Found My Animal is using style and good design to help homeless pets across the country. The company, which donates a portion of their profits to shelter pets, makes “accessories for adopted animals and their people.” It seems they’ve definitely put their collection together with me in mind, as they’ve got a shop full of pretty things I want to call my own. PetHub has a very cool approach to smart ID tags with their Link ScruffTag Collar. Each collar comes with a unique web address and QR code that can be scanned with any smart phone. The way it works is simple! Someone finds your pet. First, they try the phone number and if you’re not answering, they can scan the collar with their phone or type in the web address listed on the tag. What shows up are any details you’ve chosen to enter about your pet, including other emergency contacts (spouse, neighbor, friend, vet, pet sitter, doggie daycare, etc.), important medications, dietary needs, and anything else you think someone rescuing your pet know. You can update your pet’s info on pethub.com (for free!) as often as needed to ensure your pet’s records are current.
