Modern Cabana is a San Francisco-based company that has been creating stylish pre-fab habitats for humans since 2004. From backyard studios and sheds to larger units with a kitchen and bathroom, these add-on rooms are built for style and affordability. Modern Cabana has recently added a pre-fab dog house to their line to match the other backyard beauties they’re building.

Eccentric Italian designer Marco Morosini enjoys putting his humor and own creative spin on the world as he experiences it. Making a social critique on the ways in which we worship our pets, he created his brilliant and beautiful Dog is a God collection. From ceramic, wallpapered, and carpeted trailers to well built Japanese pagoda dog houses, the Dog is a God collection is truly a tongue-in-cheek masterpiece of doggie design. Plus, it’s a welcomed reminder of how we all can take the pampering of our pets to audacious levels! But, hey, aren’t they worthy of a little worship?

I was reading the latest issue of ReadyMade magazine where I spotted an article about creating a green roof on an existing dog house. Yes, the latest green sensation has gone to the dogs! If you’re already got yourself a dog house, there’s no need to purchase a new one, so why not make it into a planting bed? After all, if your dog isn’t using it, then at least you can get something out of it. If your dog still enjoys it, now it can do double duty. This is an extra bonus if you have limited space.

Slade Architecture designed the Pup Tent, a modern dog lounge, for an auction benefiting New York?s Design Trust for Public Space, a not-for-profit organization committed to improving New York City?s public spaces.
The design of the Pup Tent is both cooling and comforting as it provides natural light through an opening at the top, which also helps increase air circulation. It’s made from water-jet cut plywood pieces that are laminated together to create a conical shape, similar to a teepee.

Are these some good looking dog houses or what? They were created by TAP Architecture, an Oklahoma-based architecture firm who participated in The Central Oklahoma Humane Society (OK Humane) My Life as a Dog Challenge, which was held last September.
