
Last weekend I had the privilege of attending Golden Gate Field’s Annual Wiener Races presented by Pet My Wiener. Every year Dachshunds from all over the San Francisco Bay area are invited to compete for one thousand dollars in cash prizes and the sought after title of the fastest Dachshund in the Wiener Nationals. Believe me, this event was every bit as charming as it sounds! In total, 108 Dachshunds competed in 10 heats for the coveted prize. Each racer brought with him/her two participating owners, one to start the race with, and one to holler and jump at the finish line.

If you’re in the Philadelphia area this Sunday (10/3) from 12 PM – 5 PM stop by BoConcept for their 2011 collection Housewarming Party. This year, they have partnered with Voila Designs to host a fundraiser for local non-profit organizations Philadoptables and Homes for Hounds. Buy a raffle ticket and have a glass of champagne to benefit some homeless pups!

Are these some good looking dog houses or what? They were created by TAP Architecture, an Oklahoma-based architecture firm who participated in The Central Oklahoma Humane Society (OK Humane) My Life as a Dog Challenge, which was held last September.

Every year since 2003, HeavenSent Bulldog Rescue holds their annual Bullyfest in Southern NJ, a festival dedicated to the mushy-faced, wrinkly, underbited, snoring, grunting, belching, farting and all-around lovable bulldog. The fest has been growing steadily every year and last year it was so big that this year it had to be held at a new location. It was this past weekend, and my husband and I went and brought the pups, as Lulu is an American Bulldog. Surprisingly, there was only one other AB there!
