We kicked 2013 off by introducing The Scratchbook, a column where we feature dog-themed artwork and illustrations by some of our favorite artists. It’s super fun to look back and see the different styles and themes from each illustrator. We rounded up our favorite images from each post (many feature more than one, so be sure to click through to see them all); take a peek at them below and let us know which Scratchbook month is your fave of 2013!
Our pal Lili Chin (of Doggie Drawings fame) has introduced a new Dog Breed Series featuring adorable illustrations of 24 different dog breeds, available as prints, buttons, and magnets. Is your favorite breed among the lucky ones to be rendered by Lili’s pen? Head over to Etsy to find out! (There’s also a tote, mug, and other goodies featuring all 24 breeds over at Society6!)
I’m super stoked to welcome Michele Nicolette into the ranks of our Scratchbook artists this month! Michele is not only a talented illustrator (check out her custom pet portraits), but also a professional photographer, small business owner and entrepreneur (she runs/designs Wallums, a custom wall decal company — seriously, this one’s got all of the talent!), and an all around nice human being.
Natalya Zahn is a Boston-based illustrator and designer deeply inspired by all things animal (with an obvious soft spot for dogs). Her work has been featured by the Bark magazine, McSweeney’s and National Geographic, among others. Oscar, her Rhodesian Ridgeback, comes to the studio with her every day and actually works quite hard to earn his keep: his award-winning blog, Oscar Ate My Muffin, follows his charmed (and perpetually hungry) adventures via illustration, artwork and photography.
