Kamala Dolphin-Kingsley is a Portland, Oregon-based artist whose custom dog portraits are unlike any I’ve seen before. Her paintings have a magical, almost transcendental quality; the worlds and creatures that inhabit them seemingly depicted through a lens of childlike wonder — which makes perfect sense for someone who spent the days of their youth taking goats on walks though giant Redwood forests; creating communal banana slug, newt and centipede farms; and “dressing up pet rats and making them ride the dog”.
Katherine Streeter is an NYC-based painter and collage artist who features dogs frequently in her work. She’s got original collage pieces up for sale in her Etsy shop, in case you’ve got any dog lovers on those holiday lists you’re drawing up. (I’m on your holiday list, right?) Check out more after the jump.
Laura Berger has been one of my favorite artists and illustrators for a number of years, so it’s a bit of an understatement to say that I am majorly excited to welcome her as our Scratchbook artist this month! I just love the creatures and worlds she creates and am especially fond of this illustration she created for Dog Milk!

These dog paintings are just the icing on the cake in this perfectly cozy, old-world-meets-modern home in California. Be sure to take a tour of this amazing space (and see if you can spot some other fun dog accessories) over on Apartment Therapy!
I’ve got a major art crush on these paintings by Portland-based artist Jennifer Mercede. The colors! The dogs! Their little quotes! It’s all just too good.
Oooh, you guys. I just love these colorful pet portraits by artist Karren M. Garces! I’m thinking Wrigley and Smash would look mighty swell with a little pop art treatment — what about your pups?
I first fell in love with Kelly Puissegur‘s work a few years ago when I ran across these geeky-awesome film-inspired coasters and prints. Realizing it had been quite some time since I last popped into her shop, I took a peek recently and was BEYOND EXCITED to see a huge collection of new dog-themed art! So huge, in fact, that it was ridiculously hard to choose which pieces to feature. Though it pained me, I managed to (kinda) narrow it down — check out some of my faves below!
