My dogs are fairly laid back with a few exceptions. One is when someone they love comes over to the house. They get very over-excited. Second, is when someone rings the doorbell or knocks at the door. They begin to bark like crazy hopping around for absolutely no reason. It drives us crazy. So, I was really excited when this product arrived at my doorstep (and, ironically, the dogs barked when they heard the FedEx guy drop it off at the door).
The Pet Corrector
is from the UK-based dog training company The Company of Animals. The device is basically a can of compressed air that makes a loud, hissing sound when you press the nozzle. This sound is designed to stop unwanted behavior such as barking, jumping or stealing food. While it may not cure the problem right away, it interrupts the behavior enough for the dog to stop.

I have to give a shoutout to Kyjen. This big box of dog stuff arrived on my doorstep and when I opened it up, something squeaked and Beans’ ears went like this: ^^.
If you don’t know Kyjen, they’re the makers of the Outward Hound line along with a boatload of other dog toys and accessories. I was hesitant to get any toys because my dogs are aggressive chewers and can eat their way through just about anything. They also disembowel just about every stuffed toy they get and kill the squeakers within 5 minutes. Kyle from Kyjen assured me that I might be surprised at how my dogs interact with their toys. I was intrigued so I agreed to give ‘em a shot. What did I have to lose?

Remember back when I posted about these Greenies Pill Pockets? Well, I invested in a bag of the Roasted Duck and Pea Formula
, which they call their “Allergy Formula,” so that I can give Lulu some pills at night. I got the capsules, but they also have a tablet size
.
The bag was somewhere around $8, which I thought was a little high, but I’m sure you could get them on sale or use a coupon. Certainly not a product you would want to purchase if you give your dog a pill once or twice a day every day all year long. However, these are great for when you need to give your dog some medicine for shortened periods of time.

Andrea over at Bocce’s Bakery sent me some of her Grandma’s Apple Pie snacks for my puppies. They’re a really good size for my dogs — not too big yet satisfying enough. Not much I can say about the bone-shape except that I still find it adorable even though it’s pretty played out.
The ingredients: organic oat flour, local NY organic apples, local NY clover honey, fresh ground organic peanut butter, and organic non-fat yogurt. Sounds like something I would have for breakfast. I like that they don’t have too much grain in them and that she uses local ingredients. And PB. My dogs, like most dogs can’t get enough peanut buttery goodness.

Every time I load the Wacky Walk’r website, my dogs freak out over the bark. It’s so funny!

Dog Milk reader Ray emailed me about the Wacky Walk’r and said that it really helped with his pulling staffordshire bull terrier, Maddie. I feel like he must have been reading my mind because lately, my dogs are out of control. They pull me one way and the other way and then in opposite directions so I look like Stretch Armstrong. I decided to email Wacky Walk’r to see if I could test drive one of their leashes. They were so nice and sent me two and a keychain!

Ma Snax treats are handmade in Sonoma, CA by founders and professional chefs Mary Ellen Oertel and Ray Masnack (get it — masnack, ma snax?). Would you believe that Mary Ellen is originally from a town only a few towns over from where I live? Small world.

Mary Ellen sent me a sampling of Ma Snax’s some yummy treats to check out. When I opened each bag, it was like opening a cookie jar. I kid you not, these smell delish. And, the Double Pumpkin Happiness treats smell so good that I almost took a bite of one, but then realized that my dogs were staring at me. I bet if you took that recipe and added sugar you’d have pumpkin sugar cookies…or maybe not because I’m no baker! But don’t get me wrong — these aren’t junk food. All of the guilt-free ingredients are organic, all-natural, and/or whole grain, and these snacks are made with cage-free eggs. Perfect for any dog’s diet.

Big Daddy Biscuits are handpressed all natural dog biscuits made in Georgia. The company started when biscuit maker Lauren found an American Bulldog (like Lulu!) wandering around the streets of Atlanta. Now known as Big Daddy, because of his life on the streets and malnourishment, he developed toxoplasmosis, a parasitic infection that causes blindness. After nursing Big Daddy back to health, together he and Lauren (AKA “Big Mama”) make some seriously tasty biscuits, according to Beans and Lulu.

Both of my dogs are shedding like crazy right now. Living in a smaller space, we notice their hair a lot more. It gets everywhere. We let our dogs on the couch and the bed, so wherever we are THE HAIR IS THERE TOO. And it’s not just small amounts of hair…I’m talking about MOUNDS. I could sweep and vacuum every day and it would still be all over the place. When I vacuum, it looks like I’ve trapped a small animal inside the container. Tiny bunnies hide behind chairs and under cabinets. We’re fed up.
Well, desperate times call for desperate measures. I never thought I would spend $50 on a de-shedding device that is basically a fancy dog brush, but after reading the great reviews on Amazon
(4.5 stars out of 5 with over 3,000 reviews is pretty darn good), I shelled out the cash for a medium-sized deLuxe FURminator from PetSmart
. I figured I could use this size for both of my dogs. Lulu is 70lbs and Beans is 21lbs, so it’s not often that we find a one-size-fits-all product.
